"Vietnam at the time was no bigger than a man's fist on the horizon. We hardly discussed it because it was not worth discussing." -Presidential aide Jack Valenti.

Drafted immediately after his high school gradution in May of 1965, Gordon Charles Schmidt became an Army Private to serve in the Vietnam War. The war that occurred in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from November 1, 1955 to the fall of Saigon April 30, 1975. He served in the Army from 1965 to 1968. During his time at bootcamp in Northern California, to the vast travels to and through Vietnam, my father documented his adventures using his 35mm camera. In my archives, I have 6 volumes of 35mm slide film (600 plus photos) that are ready to be scanned and restored for hardcopy documentation. Five years prior to his death on June 6, 2015, my dad sat down with me and went through each and every photo that he took. Unfortunately, due to my memory, many of the photos will not be captioned. However, many photos were left to silence as we viewed them.
